So I have son who is about to be twelve. This is my first foray into parenting a twelve year old. He has two brothers that are younger, so I haven’t had to deal with the homone fairy until now. What amazes me is the amount of cliches that keep popping up in my head. Did I really tell my son that we all went through it? It feels like a bad TV drama.
The bottom line becomes that we don’t like to see our kids suffer. We want to fix that, even when we know that the suffering through the drama of friendship and courtship, will eventually help him grow up to be a strong capable man.
It is so hard to avoid the urge to get involved. How much should we talk to other parents? How much should we protect our kids from?
